Cultural Heritage

Mirila: Located in the broader area of Starigrad along the local mountain paths, you can discover Mirila—unique stone monuments from the 18th and 19th centuries. Because the high mountain villages were so far from town cemeteries, families would carry their deceased down the mountain and rest them here. The exact body measurements were then marked into the stones. According to old customs, these stones were believed to hold the soul, making them deeply meaningful historic landmarks to see during a hike.
